Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)

The DEP is the state department for environmental regulation and clean up.  The DEP sets separate standards than the EPA, but their regulations must meet all EPA standards.  The DEP also works with the EPA on clean-up projects around the state.  On the Androscoggin, the DEP has done much work with modeling pollution and setting regulations.  Search 'Androscoggin River' for more information specific to the river.
